The Archives for Prints and Photographs store, study and preserve cultural-historical and ethnological prints and photographs. The Archives consist of two separate archives: the Historical Prints and Photographs Archives and the Ethnographic Archives with the photographer´s studio. The collection has approximately 3 million items in all.

In addition to the Finnish material the Archives have photographs, drawings, water colours, scale drawings, engravings, postcards, maps, silhouttes, films and video tapes on Finno-Ugrian and other culture.
