Dimness around the wreck of Vrouw Maria is so strong that photography requires additional light. The underwater visibility may go from ten meters down to a half a meter depending on the currents and the amount of algae. This affects the use of additional light because the algae reflects the light, making the camera blind. So far we have used video camera, digital video camera, film camera, robot camera, underwater camera and specially captured camera in photographing and filming the wreck of Vrouw Maria. The lightning has differed from daylight reaching the bottom to special daylight lamps and every time the wreck has appeared in a new way. One can only cover a small part of the wreck at one time and therefore general views over the wreck are drawings, which are based on different film material.
