AINOLA - The Home of Sibelius  A Guide

2003, 44 p., paperback, ISBN 951-616-101-4, 4,90 € (exclusive VAT)

Ainola, Built in Järvenpää in 1904, was the home of the composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and his family. The guide gives an introduction to the villa and the life of the Sibelius family there. Many changes were made to the building during their lifetime: the functions of the rooms changed as the five daughters grew up, and Sibelius and his wife grew older. The furniture and interior decoration is a combination of old items and new design. The book presents the interiors and the objects in the museum, including the large collection of works of art by well-known Finnish painters and sculptors, followed by a short chronological summary of Jean Sibelius' life and work.
