There are different kinds of indices available for the picture materials of the different collections. The card catalogues and catalogue files serving as indices are available to the customers at our customer service premises. The Musketti system can be browsed on the computers at the customer service premises.
Via the Kuvakokoelmat.fi web service you can browse and study a selected sample of the public picture materials in the picture collections of the National Board of Antiquities and the Maritime Museum of Finland and learn about the pictorial cultural heritage of Finland. Through the Kuvakokoelmat.fi service you can also purchase image files and image-specific one-off right-to-publish licences. The easy and versatile search system serves both researchers and photojournalists as well as other professionals, in addition to those who visit the archives for the first time.
Finna – the collections of Finnish museums available with a single search
Finna is an easy-to-use online service maintained by the National Library. It provides access to the materials and services of archives, libraries and museums. The test version of Finna was published in December 2012. Finna is being continuously developed and new functionalities added to the service. New organisations are joining Finna in phases. The National Library has implemented the online service in cooperation with archives, libraries and museums. Finna has been built based on VuFind and other open source software. Finna is a part of the National Digital Library (KDK) project run by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Finnish Museums Online
Finnish Museums Online is a search portal open for everyone, providing access to the collections of several Finnish museums. The collections can be searched, browsed and viewed via the same web address. Currently the service includes information on more than 165,000 objects and images.
Collection of drawings of the built environment PIIKA
The collection of drawings includes dimensional drawings and plans by the Finnish Antiquarian Society’s and the National Board of Antiquities’ draughtspeople and architects, as well as collections acquired from other sources. The drawings have been arranged by location, and the catalogue includes the creator of the drawing, the date of creation, content and the technique used. The information in the catalogue covers approximately two thirds of the drawing collection. The Picture Collections of the National Board of Antiquities manage the rare drawings in the drawing collection. The archives of the National Board of Antiquities are responsible for the rest of the drawings.
MuskettiThe museum data system Musketti is a collections management system created at the National Board of Antiquities; it is used to record metadata on objects and pictures included in the collections as well as the related persons or bodies and measures.
