The Maintenance of the Archaeological Heritage

The care of the archaeological cultural heritage entails the maintenance of relics and remains and their surroundings, as well as the planning and organization of the use of areas. The purpose of this work is to bring forth elements of cultural history and to ensure their preservation for the future. Tended sites and antiquities help deepen local identity and thus reinforce the commitment of people to their own environment.

The National Board of Antiquities has been engaged in the systematic care and maintenance of sites since 1988, when the Section for Site Management designated for this purpose began work. More information on the care of sites and antiquities from the links on the left.
