Collectors - Journeys to Other Worlds
16.5.2013 - 16.3.2014
|
The exhibition Collectors – Journeys to Other Worlds presents collectors from Häme as well as private museum collections and collecting as a hobby. The exhibition presents the collections of twenty collectors as well as collectors’ items donated to the Hämeenlinna Historical Museum during the last one hundred years.
The children and young people from Aimokoulu school have also built their own world of collections for the exhibition.Through the private collections you can travel to other times, places or realities. Since the 1800s, industrialisation and mass production have created an astronomical amount of objects around us, which has made collecting possible in a completely new way.
The people collecting stamps, butterflies or antiques are not the only hobbyists in the field. You can collect anything: objects, ideas and experiences. Private collections have also amassed enormous amounts of material cultural heritage.
The exhibition is produced by the Hämeenlinna Historical Museum and accomplished in collaboration with the Häme Castle, Voionmaa Institute, Aimokoulu and twenty collectors from the Häme region.
