Yli-Laurosela Farmhouse Museum, Ilmajoki

Museo ja juhannusruusutKuva: Irma Kortesuo (2008)

Yli-Laurosela farm has been occupied since at least the 17th century. Its main building was built in 1848 and is an example of an affluent southern Ostrobothnian peasant house. Its two-storey main building combines Ostrobothnian architectural traditions with characteristics of the empire style. In addition to the main building, the yard is surrounded by nine outbuildings each with its own task in housekeeping and husbandry.

The main building has been furnished in an early 20th century style. Visitors can view the living-room and the master and matron's chambers on the ground floor. The first-floor parlour is used for temporary exhibitions. The two upstairs rooms have been furnished as summer rooms. All the rooms have been decorated with objects from Ilmajoki; some of them were originally from the Yli-Laurosela farmhouse. An exhibition in Ostrobothian architectural history is presented in Yli-Laurosela's cowshed.

Yli-Laurosela farmhouse museum was opened to public in 1978.
