Russian Porcelain: Collections and the State of Research


11 – 12 November 2008


 

The National Museum of Finland and the Vera Saarela foundation will host a scientific conference on Russian porcelain. The conference will take place 11 - 12 November 2008, in the National Museum of Finland, Helsinki. The conference languages are English and Russian.

The conference is aimed for experts of porcelain in museums, universities and other research institutes and for collectors and historians of art. We want to bring together current scientific research and expertise on the history of Russian porcelain in different countries. A range of top specialists of porcelain will share their up-to-date views on collections and research on the topic.

Call for abstracts


 

The program will contain a "Market of ideas –session for short papers on current research projects and collection news concerning either specifically Russian porcelain or porcelain in more general terms.

The National Museum of Finland presents Finnish life from prehistoric times to the present. Being the central museum of cultural history in Finland, it houses large collections of Finnish archaeology, ethnology, numismatics, fine arts and arts and crafts. During the conference, there will be two temporary exhibitions:

Registration opens 15 September 2008. The last registration day is 31 October 2008. 

All participants should register using the online registration form. All reservations (incl. hotel) should be made on the same registration form. Kindly make sure that you receive a reference number for your registration to your email.

Participation fee includes:

  • Admission to the scientific sessions
  • Lunch 11 November
  • Refreshments or coffee/tea during the breaks
  • Conference services at the venue
Please note that the travel costs, hotel accommodation and insurances are not included in the fees.

 

Accommodation


Participants should make their hotel reservation in advance on the conference registration form. To guarantee your reservation, a deposit of one night’s room rate is required to be paid in advance together with the registration fee. The deposit will be forwarded to the hotel and it will be deducted from your final hotel bill when checking out. If you must cancel your reservation, please refer to the cancellation and refund policy. All prices are per room per night, including breakfast and VAT.

Confirmation of participation


TAVI Congress Bureau will confirm your participation upon receiving the registration and all the payments.

 

Cancellation and refund policy


Kindly note that all cancellations and/or changes to registration and accommodation must be made in writing to TAVI Congress Bureau by email: varpu.taavettila@tavicon.fi or by fax: +358 3 233 0444.

Cancellation of accommodation: If a cancellation for the hotel reservation is received before 21 October, the deposit will be refunded except 10EUR for handling fee. If the accommodation is cancelled after 21 October, no refund will be made.

Cancellation of participation: If a cancellation for the participation is received before 28 October, the registration fee will be refunded with the exception of 20EUR for handling fee. If a cancellation is received after 28 October, no refund will be made.

There is no refund of registration or hotel deposit in the case of no-show. There is no extra fee if a delegate’s registration is transferred to a colleague from the same organization.
