The 2nd Baltic Sea Region Cultural Heritage Forum took place in Helsinki 9. –12. 6.2005. The theme of the Forum was Urban Heritage -  Collective Privilege. The purpose of the Forum was to gather together various instances around the Baltic Sea to develop and promote co-operation on cultural heritage issues. Both professionals, researchers, non governmental organisations, politicians and public were involved to create a multisided programme. This report presents the proceedings and events of the Forum. It includes the presentations held in the Plenum and pre-Forum seminars, and summarises the four related exhibitions.

This publication is the result of the ”Can we learn from the heritage lost in a fire?” project in which Finland, Norway and Sweden consulted about their experiences and knowledge of fires and the fire protection in historic buildings. In addition it presents general information and some aspects of preventing a fire in historic wooden towns and an essay concerning the problem of rebuilding after a fire.
